Chair Rails
Chair Rails are a traditional
method of breaking up a wall horizontally,
adding both interest and protection. In many
applications,
chair rails are used to separate two types
of decorating material, such as wainscoting,
paneling,
wallpaper or paint. Chair railing is usually
applied about 1/3 up from floor, paralleling
the base moulding and encircling the room. This
effect is used as a key decorative detail in
traditional and colonial design.
